With finals approaching and colder days (potentially) looming, it’s easy to fall into a routine of wearing the same look day after day. For me, it’s leggings, riding boots, sweaters and scarves. They keep me warm and looking fairly put together. But from time to time, we all need a little spice in our wardrobes.
Here are some great blogs brimming with fashion ideas of all sorts — from celebrities to your average (but fashionable) Joe.
For inspiration from French fabulosity, Garance Doré’s blog is a must. Illustrator Garance Doré began her blog in 2006 as a way “to do something more free, more spontaneous.” Full of photos and drawings of the most glorious people, places and things, it’s hard to find something on Doré’s blog that doesn’t inspire. Read it in English, or take a break from your French homework to read the original blog en français. It’s just wonderful. Click on the link above and you’ll see for yourself.
For inspiration from the real world, check out “The Sartorialist”. Scott Schuman, the blogger behind “The Sartorialist”, began photographing fashionable people in the streets of New York in order to highlight the amazing outfits he saw everyday as opposed to what he saw on the runways. Since the blog’s conception in 2005, Schuman has expanded his scope to other fashion capitals including Paris, Milan, Tokyo and London. From the most precious Spanish child to the older Argentinean man who’s still got it, “The Sartorialist” exhibits fashion from and for everyone. Whether you’re into haute couture or edgy chic, you’re sure to be inspired by the glossy photos of “The Sartorialist”.
Today I’m Wearing…
For inspiration from style icons and models, check out the “Today I’m Wearing…” photo blog from British Vogue’s Web site. Each month highlights a different icon or model. Photographs of an outfit from everyday along with a little blurb about the clothes are included in this day-by-day fashion calendar. Past photo bloggers include the fabulously distinctive style of Alexa Chung to the polished wardrobe of The City star, Olivia Palermo. Check on the link above to start your fashion inspiration quest at the beginning of the photo blog.
For interactive inspiration, check out fashiolista.com. Users can discover fashion gems, share them with friends and even upload their own fab finds. The official blog provides a more tailored look at featured fashiolistas, celeb style, budding trends and runway reports. The main Web site allows users to discover fashion favorites and popular finds and even provides an outlet for “window shopping” without ever leaving the library. Like we needed another distraction.
