How to Achieve the Work-Ready Look

Springtime is always buzzing with excitement. For students, it is time to prepare for a summer internship or possibly, even a new job. The most stressful part, after actually finding the job, is to figure out what to wear to work. What is “business casual?” Is it always appropriate in every office setting? If you want to break out of the traditional business suit shell, how can you do it in a classy but chic way? I’ve searched through Shopbop.com’s clothes to find a few good examples of pieces that are both work appropriate and classically trendy. Every girl needs staple pieces such as these in her wardrobe if you can get away with spending a little more money for the investment. After all, pencil skirts and well-tailored blazers are timeless.

I chose a few items with bold prints or color to attract the eye without seeming too gaudy. You want to stand out! A potential employer will remember the girl in the red dress versus all of the black suits. If you are too timid to be this bold, try stand-out accessories like statement necklaces or flirty pumps. Layering is very trendy this season and classic black pencil skirts will never go out of style. Don’t forget to pick up a few structured blouses to accompany those pencil skirts. I like the ones with shoulder pads or ruffle details. The moral of the story: show any employer that you are not afraid to be bold.

Holiday Dress Guide

The holidays guarantee an onslaught of parties with family, friends, and co-workers. And as always, you must have something special to wear on New Years. We all need that perfect dress for any occasion, and Shopbop delivers. Here are a few of my favorite picks. Strapless is a classic look, but it takes a certain figure to pull it off. The Rebecca Minkoff dress is on sale, so snatch it up quickly! All any of these dresses need is a great pair of earrings and some booties or striking pumps and you are ready to rock it.

Holiday Gift Guide

Shopbop does a great job with helping you shop for any friend–with any style. They offer a gift guide for the glamorous type, the rocker, the free spirit, and virtually anyone. I can’t think of how many times I needed to find a gift for a friend who seemed to have everything, or a friend whom I couldn’t quite figure out what she would want. Be inspired this holiday season and give a gift that you know she’ll love! Even if you can’t afford it, at least you can get some great ideas…

Add a little stud to your wardrobe

I love anything studded; it complements any outfit – especially the more feminine styles.  A studded peice of jewelry can add spark to any dull attire and liven up the florals that you will be seeing everywhere this fall.  So take a risk and walk on the wild side with studded jewelry – I promise you won’t look like a biker chick!

shopbop 4 Life

I’m OBSESSED. I can’t help it; I look through shopbop everyday, in every class, at all times. My name is Elizabeth Graper and I stalk shopbop. I believe that clothes are an expression of who you are, however, in my opinion you can never have too many personalities. I love to dress up but I also like to be comfortable and casual. Whether the style is girly, rock n’roll, flower power, or grunge, I love clothes.
